Identidad Madidi Objectives
- Increase the general knowledge for biodiversity of the Madidi National Park and Natural Area of Integrated Management through the survey of plants, butterflies, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, in an altitudinal transect of 190-5,300 meters above sea level, covering 5,110 meters of altitude difference and 15 sites identified as priorities.
- Create a biodiversity baseline to monitor the effect of climate change along Madidi's altitudinal range, using quantitative and comparable methodologies every 500 meters.
- Increase the total number of vertebrate species formally registered within the Madidi area.
- Increase the number of localities for the vertebrate species registered in Madidi, and therefore the knowledge about their distribution within the area.
- Discover facts about the natural history of vertebrate species with little knowledge about their habitat, diet, reproduction, and behavioral ecology.
- Document the relative abundance of vertebrate species in 15 different habitat types in Madidi.
- Provide field data, including those generated through wildlife detection technology (camera traps, video cameras), that provide virtual opportunities to engage the public with the research.
- Create a virtual research experience by documenting Madidi's biodiversity and disseminating it through images, blogs, videos and other digital materials.
- Connect Bolivia's urban public with the biodiversity of northern La Paz.
- Highlight the work of Bolivian biologists in biodiversity conservation.
- Create an electronic scientific, cultural and visual encyclopedia of the biodiversity of northern La Paz, in Spanish and English.
