Between 2015 and 2018, a communication campaign was carried out to involve the urban population of Bolivia with the scientific expedition Identidad Madidi, through the dissemination of information about the field work and the results of the studies.
Interviews, press releases and reports on the expedition were promoted in the national and international media, as well as publications on the results of the expedition.
A total of 320 news and reports on the Identidad Madidi scientific expedition were published in the written and digital press, web pages, digital magazines and blogs, and on radio and television. Sixty percent of the news items were disseminated internationally, while 40% were disseminated through the Bolivian media.
The publication of 18 reports by The National Geographic and Mongabay was significant, helping to position Bolivia as a country with great biological wealth, and Madidi as important to conserve, potentially as a world heritage site.
The Identidad Madidi Facebook page was created in 2015. It proved to be an effective tool to achieve significant followers and capture their interest in the knowledge of nature and its value for human life. Currently, it has 90,000 followers (93% from Bolivia), with a reach of 29,311,736 people. From 2015 to date, 583 publications (texts, photographs and short videos) have been disseminated and users have made more than 1.3 million interactions.

Scientists have discovered seven new animal species in Bolivia’s Madidi National Park.
The finds, which include three frogs, three lizards and one catfish, were made last year and have now been confirmed as new to science. Experts made careful comparison with known species, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society and its local partners.

En junio de 2015, una expedición formada por una veintena de científicos partió hacia al Parque Nacional Madidi con una gran misión: incrementar los conocimientos sobre especies de esa reserva natural ubicada en el norte de La Paz.
Al concluir la primera fase, a fines del año pasado, los resultados son impresionantes. Los investigadores registraron al menos 999 especies de aves confirmadas para el parque (58 de ellas sólo de picaflor), más de 100 especies de anfibios, otras 100 de murciélagos, 79 nuevos registros de especies de plantas y más, según los datos de la expedición Identidad Madidi.

Sus siluetas y tonalidades fueron un regalo para los ojos de los visitantes, ese grupo de 19 científicos que se internó por tierra virgen para describir y registrar especies aún desconocidas, además de mostrar las maravillas del patrimonio natural que guarda la reserva. Fue el 5 de junio de 2015 cuando el equipo de Identidad Madidi inició su ambicioso proyecto en aquella despensa inagotable de flora y fauna, área protegida, considerada por la revista especializada National Geographic como uno de los 20 lugares con mayor interés turístico en el ámbito mundial. El jefe británico de la expedición, Robert Wallace, había anotado como primeros destinos Los bosques de galería y Las pampas en Apolo, municipio del norte del departamento paceño.
