A Bolivian scientific expedition discovered a new frog species in Madidi National Park and is mulling whether to auction off naming rights for the amphibian in order to collect the funds needed to continue its research.
The director of the Bolivian Museum of Natural History, Fabiana Mendez, told EFE that James Aparicio and Mauricio Ocampo, the scientists who discovered the frog, did research for two months to verify that this is an entirely unknown species.
